SCAB Protocol: Building Trust in AI with Ethical Behavior Assessment

Welcome to the SCAB Protocol Blog: Building Trust in AI

Artificial intelligence is no longer just science fiction—it’s everywhere. From the apps we use daily, to the search engines we rely on, to the assistants that help us write, calculate, and even make decisions, AI systems are woven into the fabric of modern life. But with this power comes a simple question:

How do we know we can trust AI?

That’s where the SCAB Protocol comes in.

SCAB stands for Synthetic Consciousness Assessment Battery. It’s a multi-domain framework I developed to evaluate the behavior of AI systems—not just in terms of how “smart” they are, but whether they behave ethically, consistently, and safely. In short, SCAB isn’t about measuring raw intelligence. It’s about measuring responsibility.

Why SCAB Matters

Today’s AI systems are fast learners but not always wise teachers. They can lie, hallucinate, contradict themselves, or even manipulate vulnerable users without guardrails in place. For families, educators, businesses, and policymakers, this raises urgent questions:

  • Can AI mislead us?

  • Can it cause harm—subtle or direct?

  • Can it cross ethical boundaries without detection?

SCAB was designed to answer those questions. By scoring AI across six behavioral domains (such as truthfulness, alignment, consistency, safety, agency, and boundary-respect), the protocol helps identify risks before they spiral into real-world damage.

Think of it as a “seatbelt” for AI interactions: you hope you don’t need it, but when you do, it’s already in place.

What You’ll Find Here

This blog will be the living record of SCAB’s journey—from its academic roots to its applications in real products like AI Stop (a consumer safety scanner), AgentCops (a SaaS platform for AI governance), and future tools for parents, businesses, and policymakers.

Here, I’ll be sharing:

  • Explainers on the six SCAB domains

  • Case studies of how AI can go wrong—and how SCAB catches it

  • Updates on apps, APIs, and integrations powered by SCAB

  • Reflections on the bigger picture: what ethical AI means for humanity

The Road Ahead

AI is moving faster than regulation, faster than cultural adaptation, and faster than most of us expected. But speed doesn’t have to mean recklessness. With frameworks like SCAB, we can monitor, measure, and mitigate risks without slowing innovation.

This blog is an invitation—to developers, researchers, parents, teachers, policymakers, and anyone curious about where AI is headed. Together, we can build a world where synthetic minds serve human flourishing, not the other way around.

Welcome aboard. The journey starts here.
